and one unpublished study that was presented at an astrology conference

  1. AstroSignatures in the Gauquelin Data Revealed by David Cochrane, 2007
Click to read the Article »

Exploratory research of the Gauquelin data indicates that harmonic aspects in the data that are expected according to the theories in Vibrational Astrology are confirmed. This is exploratory research designed to build a clear model that can be later tested more rigorously. Results of the study are very encouraging.

  2. Towards a Proof of Astrology:
An AstroSignature for Mathematical Abilityby David Cochrane, 2004.
Click to read the Article »

A pilot study and exploratory research into possible indicators of mathematical ability. Particular 7th harmonic aspects were found in great mathematicians. This paper reports results form one of the early research studies (done in year 2004) and results have not been replicated so the results may be spurious.

  3. A Reassessment of the Mars Effect and Other Planetary Effectsby David Cochrane and Dr. David Fink, 2010
Click to read the Article »

A reanalysis of the results of the Gauquelin research shows that the Gauquelin plus zones are smaller than what was proposed by the Gauquelins. A comparison of zodiac longitude, right ascension, and Placidian arcs shows that there are slight differences between the results depending on these measurement systems.

  4. A Reanalysis of Theodor Landscheidt's Findings Regarding Mars-Saturns Angles in Birth Charts of Scientists by David Cochrane, 2010
Click to read the Article »

Intriguing results are obtained by analyzing Landscheidt's golden mean aspects in the Gauquelin data. The findings are not definitive but do provide interesting possibilities for further exploration.

  5. Distribution of Mars in Gauquelin Sectors for Day Charts and Night Charts of Professional Groups by David Cochrane, 2010
Click to read the Article »

Analyzing the Gauquelin data for differences based on whether the chart is a day chart or night chart produces some interesting results but none of the results strongly suggest that predictors of vocation are possible with the variables investigated in this study.

  6. Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn Effects on Extraversion/Introversion by David Cochrane and Dr. David Fink, 2010
Click to read the Article »

The Eysenck Personality Inventory was administered to 982 college students. An analysis of the results suggest that Mars and Jupiter in Gauquelin plus zones may have a very slight inclination to extraversion and Saturn in these plus zones incline to introversion but the effect sizes, if they exist, are very small.

  7. Astrological Harmonic Patterns as Possible Indicators of Extraversion/Introversion by David Cochrane and Dr. David Fink, 2010
Click to read the Article »

The Eysenck Personality Inventory was administered to 982 college students. An analysis of the results suggest that Sun and Saturn in 7th harmonic aspect inclines to introversion. This is consistent with ideas in Vibrational Astrology.

  8. Reanlaysis of the Gold Price Forecast by David Cochrane, 2010
Click to read the Article »

A reanalysis of the results of a study in predicting gold prices using more careful statistical tools confirms the findings. One of the main predictors of higher gold prices is Sun and Jupiter in 7th harmonic aspect. This is a finding based on training data and was not confirmed with test data, but a later study with test data suggests that the effect may be real.

  9. The First 32 Harmonics: A Qualitative Study by David Cochrane, 2012
Click to read the Article »

This very large study analyzes the charts of people in a database who have the most aspects in the first 32 harmonics. This is a qualitative study but inferences are much stronger than from the usual cherry-picked data that astrologers typically use. Consistent themes for these charts are found and the findings are generally consistent with expectations but modifications to current theory are also made based on the findings.

  10. Baseball Batting Performance, Unpublished by David Cochrane, Linda Berry, Starlene Breieter, Will Morris, Steven Wade.

Correlation values of baseball batting performance with transiting aspects are being analyzed. The research design and current model were presented at the Kepler Conference in January, 2017 (www.TheKeplerConference.com). More results of this ongoing research project with be presented at the Kepler Conference in January, 2018.

Videos on research studies

  1. Possible Astrological Indicators of Mental IllnessDavid Cochrane, 2013
Click to watch the Video » 31:26 minutes

This presentation is more about how to conduct research using particular software than about making a strong case that astrological indicators of mental illness may have been identified, but the results are interesting.

  2. Did Gauquelin Prove Astrology? Part 1David Cochrane, 2013
Click to watch the Video » 27:57 minutes

A reanalysis of the Gauquelin findings shows that the results that Gaquelin obtained are not as impressive as was suggested by Gauquelin.

  3. Did Gauquelin Prove Astrology? Part 2David Cochrane, 2014
Click to watch the Video » 12:41 minutes

An exploratory study of the Gauquelin data that combines the Gauquelin plus zones with harmonic aspects provides very impressive results that are consistent with ideas in Vibrational Astrology.

  4. Evidence that there is a Science of astrologyDavid Cochrane, 2015
Click to watch the Video » 3:26 minutes

A very short video of only 3½ minutes that summarizes the hypothesis test conducted by Linda Berry on gold prices, and the results which obtained mildly positive results. Insufficient data makes it difficult to draw strong conclusions, but the results are positive.

  5. Predicting Accidents with Vibrational AstrologyDavid Cochrane, 2016
Click to watch the Video » 50:59 minutes

How a model for predicting accidents is built and is tested. The model that is built provides results that are consistent with the data collected. This video demonstrates the early stages of building a model that can later be tested more rigorously.

  6. Chiron: Wounded Healer, Quiet Charisma, Focused Self-Expression or an Electric CurrentDavid Cochrane, 2014
Click to watch the Video » 1:29:07 minutes

Using Intensity Sampling an astrological significance for Chiron is proposed that is consistent with the data. The model that is built is far more impressive than the models usually proposed by astrologyers using cherry picked data. This video shows how a model can be built which has hope of being confirmed in hypothesis tests.

  7. Ceres in Astrology, Part 1David Cochrane, 2016
Click to watch the Video » 36:38 minutes

Using Intensity Sampling an astrological significance for Chiron is proposed that is consistent with the data. The model that is built is far more impressive than the models usually proposed by astrologyers using cherry picked data.
