In this seminar David will describe a system of astrological interpretation he developed around 1974. It is based on his studies of many different schools of astrology. The ideas were used in over 2,000 consultations that averaged over 2 hours in length over a 7 year time period ending in 1981. Since the 1970's David has continued to refine and develop these ideas through consultations, chart analysis, research, and continued studies of astrology (a never ending subject!) via books and seminars by other leading astrologers, as well as study of related areas outside of astrology.

Starting Simple and Getting More Complex: In David's lectures, he tends to start with simple things you already know and then gradually builds up. This is important because many of the ideas are fresh and new and developed from a wide range of astrological theories that few people are familiar with.

The Therapeutic Value of Astrology: David will explain how seemingly disparate and largely unrelated approaches to astrology, such as Ancient Western (which often distances itself from modern psychological), Vedic (which evolved largely independently from other astrological traditions), Archetypal and Mythological Astrology, Evolutionary, Modern Psychological, Classical Horary, Divinatory, Symmetrical Astrology, Cosmobiology, and Harmonics share some common threads and how symptoms can be distinguished from causes in the astrology chart. Charts of people with extreme traits and some attendees demonstrate how you can pinpoint the process, the motivation, and the meaning of the client’s experiences and target your consultation to the source of issues rather than to the symptoms of the issues. We will see how insight into the layers of meaning and essential drives are seen in the chart and how difficult astrological combinations can be the source of either dysfunction or very high development and positive contributions. The astrologer can facilitate growth and help direct the client to finding solutions and the best decisions by focusing on the essential meaning and challenges being faced.

Friday Night: May 13, 2011, 7 to 9 PM. Extraordinary Astrology Charts of Extraordinary People. Does a person with extraordinary musical or artistic ability, athletic, talent, or some other extreme trait have extraordinary astrological patterns in the birth chart that correspond to these extreme traits? David thinks that they do and he will share insights into the charts of some celebrities and people who have had great historical impact through their unusual talents or traits. This presentation is fun and revealing, and a kind of “warm up” for the weekend seminar.

Saturday: May 14, 2011, 9:30 am to 12 noon, 1:00 pm to 5 pm: On Saturday morning we will look at the charts of people with large stelliums in a particular sign and house (these are charts of different people than those discussed on Friday evening). Do these people have the traits we expect? Could we predict their personalities based on the chart? What is really happening? David introduces his radically fresh and exciting way of understanding how astrological influences really work and how we often insist that people exhibit particular symptoms of the astrological influence rather than see what is really important to the person. In the afternoon we continue the analysis and start seeing how these principles work in the charts of attendees. We begin the morning and afternoon sessions with a guided meditation.

Sunday: May 15, 2011, 9:30 am to 12 noon, 1:00 pm to 5 pm. On Sunday we dig deeper into the essential meaning of each planet, zodiac sign, and house and how they operate in the charts of some of the attendees. We learn how to tap into the essentially therapeutic essence of astrological influences and how we can guide our clients to make the best decisions and develop a positive attitude and perspective on their lives by bringing out what is deep within them. We continue the process of understanding how different astrological traditions and beliefs contribute different insights into a coherent understanding of astrology that incorporates ideas from other traditions. We spend time on issues of health and ways that you can ethically and effectively work with clients with physical as well as psychological issues. We also see how these principles are helpful in financial and business matters and how the principles have been applied successfully in making financial forecasts. The morning and afternoon sessions begin with a guided meditation

MAY 15, Sunday night Dinner: If you are still in Gainesville, you are all invited to David and Fei's home. This is a potluck dinner and most of you are traveling so you can be creative: perhaps stop by at the grocery store and bring a salad or some fruit, order a pizza for a few of you, bring a take-out or sandwich for yourself, or whatever else you like. This is an informal gathering and will be a nice relaxing evening. If you know how to play a musical instrument, share it with us. We have piano, some guitars, and a drum.
