Cosmic Patterns Kepler and Pegasus Update Page

CORRECTION AND IMPROVEMENT TO KEPLER VERSION 7:

Notes: The explanations below are very brief and often quite technical because very often a problem occurred only in very rare circumstances on some computers with unusual settings. Very often improvements are typographical corrections, detection of the user making a selection that does not make sense (such as entering the name of a file that does not exist) or may involve very advanced features, such as, for example, creating an AstroSignature with complex combinations of AND and OR statemetns. Most corrections and improvements do not affect the basic functioning of the program. Some changes are improvements, such as improved daylight saving time tables because some countries changed their observance of DST in the current year, or new research has led us to revise a table. There are many subtle issues that can arise when using a program as versatile and complex as Kepler, and most situations would occur only under very specific situations that almost no customers are likely to encounter, but we have listed all problems reported for completeness. Some corrections and improvements are made from observations made during development of the next version of Kepler, and some corrections are problems encountered by users or suggestions made by users. The update to Kepler 7 will update your program with all of the corrections and improvements.

July 7, 2004: *Credit to Dadhichi Toth for interpretations in Chart Explorer added. *TriWheel Animation and AstroClock are now displayed in landscape so they are visible. *Non-English characters of intepretive reports viewed on screen on some computers with unusual language settings could cause problems which was fixed by displaying the report on the screen with the ANSI Windows character set.

July 12, 2004: *Installation of Mega Atlas not working on some computers. Problem was fixed. *Printing and Saving to File Transit Interpretations not working on some computers. Problem fixed.

July 13, 2004: *When customizing a wheel and selecting a graphic image, a message is now displayed immediately if the graphic image is not on disk so user knows the file name entered is not valid.

July 14, 2004: *Dates in Graphic Ephemeris before the year 1,000 A.D. sometimes slightly incorrect, and problem was fixed.

July 15, 2004: *Explanation of Culture and Creativity Treasure Map was improved. *Also, labels of planets at top of graphic ephemeris are positioned slightly better. *In data entry screen, February 29 when not a leap year is filtered out. *Also, if no printers are installed on the computer, a message is now displayed when the program starts so user knows that printing is impossible because there are no printers.

July 19, 2004: *DST tables were improved with recent changes in about 20 countries. *Also, the explanation of the Compatibilty Profile Scores was improved to better explain what the scores mean.

July 20, 2004: *Improvement to research and AstroSignatures to allow more complex ANDing and ORing of factors.

July 29, 2004: *Customizing a transit time to have both zodiac signs and midpoints can produce an error when the report is produced. Problem was fixed.

July 30, 2004: *Some transit text listings do not print right column in the column properly. Formatting was improved.

Aug 2, 2004: *Randall Roffe's Fixed Star Report did not run In Kepler 7. Problem was fixed. Wording of introductory sections of some fixed star listings was also improved.

Aug 6, 2004: *Very minor, almost trivial improvement: When customizing research AstroSignatures, a detection of the use selecting Previous after an OR statement was added so this sequence of lines (which does not make sense and very unlikely an user would ever enter it) added.

Aug 7, 2004: *In a progressed listing, the date for aspects when planet turns Rx or ingresses into a sign is improved by improving progressed positions during the calculations.

Aug 12, 2004: *Changing the house system of a progressed chart not making sure that natal and progressed house systems are the same or notifying user, by making them the same and displaying message to notify user.

Aug 17, 2004: *When selecting a BiWheel of a progressed chart, default chart is now the natal of the chart rather than the previously selected chart, which is more intuitive and helpful to the user. *Also, if you select the Two Wheels printout, select Customize, and then select Page Customize, and then Composite Tables, you can get an error message. Problem is fixed. *Also, the Calendar feature had a problem of not always showning 31st day of a month; this was corrected by using the standard Windows calendar component rather than a third party calendar component.

Aug 23, 2004: *In the Vedic wheel, planets are now placed in zodiac order in a house, which is much more intuitive and common.

Aug 25, 2004: *The calculation of strength when the simple strength formula for a Vedic Insight Report was improved. *Also, an option to include an interpretive report in the body of an e-mail message was added for a customer who requested it but a file named emailopt.txt must be in the Kepler file to activate the radio buttons that enable this. Because the feature is new, undocumented, and not fully tested, it is activated only if the file emailopt.txt is in the Kepler folder.

Aug 26, 2004: *Customize a wheel, select graphics and press the OK button: a message is diplayed that the file name is missing and this message should not be displayed. The message is now no longer displayed. *On the opening screen the hint for the Avalon/Encyclopedia feature had some extraneous information, which was removed.

Aug 27, 2004: *A wheel with azimuth-altitude coordinates in 360 degree format with shadow fonts is missing the first character of the degrees; problem is fixed. Also aspect lines drawn in the center of a wheel to the Asc in an azimuth-altitude chart may not be drawn to the correct point and this problem was fixed.

Aug 30, 2004: *In the Advanced Forecast Report 1 Day style the days of the week are not displayed correctly. Problem was in Kepler, not the Advanced Forecast Report, so installing Kepler update fixes the problem.

Aug 31, 2004: *At very high latitudes the planetary hours listing can have errors. Problem fixed. Also, when importing Solar Fire files, the name was changed from "First Last" to "Last, First" but this feature is confusing for charts with middle name or if last name is two words, for example, so the feature is removed. Solar Fire does not distinguish first and last names.

Sep 1, 2004: *E-mailing an AstroMap did not work; an error was displayed instead. Problem was fixed.

Sep 2, 2004: *Customizing a transit report and selecting planet stations and enter-exact-leave format results in a run-time error message because this combination does not work. A feature was added to detect and prevent this combination of selections.

Sep 15, 2004: *Selecting sidereal chart and tropical progressions (unlikely but theoretically possible to do) can result in different house positions. Now zodiacs always checked on calculation to ensure that they match.

Sep 17, 2004: *Interactive selection of Jupiter by clicking on Jupiter in the chart wheel can display soft instead of hard aspect. Problem was fixed.

Oct 1, 2004: *Font support for computers that do not smooth fonts properly was added by adding a Smooth check box in the font selection area and providing unsmoothed true type fonts. Problem appears to occur with less than 1% of computers and problem is only that the fonts are not as smooth as they should be.

Oct 5, 2004: *The year is added to the AstroSignature Forecast dates at bottom of the graph because this is a little better than having only month and day.
